Top Games on Oculus Quest for 2022

Oculus Quest is a widely known standalone virtual reality (VR) headset. It uses android-based source code to run video games. The principal aim of Oculus Quest is to deliver a fully-immersive gaming experience through enhanced digital innovation.

Virtual reality is a term that describes a computer-generated environment with realistic images, sounds, and sensations.

Virtual reality can be a 3D fantasy game with nothing related to the real world. Likewise, VR games can feature a virtual world with activities similar to our natural world. Nevertheless, a person will experience total immersion into the digital domain in virtual reality.

Oculus Quest is a product of Reality Labs, a company owned by Meta Platforms Inc. Reality Labs produces virtual and augmented reality hardware (e.g., Oculus Quest) and software (e.g., Horizon Worlds).

Reality Labs released Oculus Quest in May 2019. However, the company had to discontinue the original Oculus Quest in September 2020 to launch a new version.

Facebook Reality Labs released the Oculus Quest 2 model (also known as Meta Quest 2) on October 13, 2020. Since then, Oculus Quest 2 has been a talk in town for providing an excellent virtual reality experience.

An Oculus Quest headset might not be all you need. Instead, a player needs to know the best games to play on the device. Accordingly, this article brings you the top games to play on Oculus Quest in 2022.

5 Games on Oculus Quest You Should Play

Beat Saber

If you love music and prefer less violence, the first game on our list will suit you. Beat Saber is a rhythm game that you play by slicing musical blocks using lightsabers while avoiding obstacles.

This virtual reality game features soundtracks and music packs of songs by famous musicians like Lady Gaga and Billie Eilish. While playing a song or music pack, blocks will approach you in rhythm with the song. You have to slice these blocks with your saber while dodging incoming bombs and walls.

A Prague-based game developer, Beat Games, released Beat Saber on May 21, 2019. The game is available on Oculus Quest alongside other virtual reality headset brands.

You can purchase the Beat Saber game on the Oculus store (Meta Quest store) for $30. Also, players need to buy music packs starting at a minimum of $2 (the Aero Chord – Boundless song).

One recently added music pack is the Electronic Mixtape, featuring tracks from multiple artists and challenging player levels.

Pistol Whip

Pistol Whip is another virtual reality rhythm game where the music syncs with gameplay. However, this game is much different from Beat Saber in terms of violence. Here, you kill to stay alive!

To begin gameplay, players select a movie poster representing songs and use that to set modifiers. Meanwhile, the modifiers you select determine the amount of ammunition you can possess and they even affect your score.

Players move automatically through game levels while shooting at opponents and dodging bullets and obstacles. The automatic movement helps you focus on fighting incoming threats and keeping your player alive.

Cloudhead Games released Pistol Whip on November 7, 2019. Today, the game is available on Oculus Quest and Oculus Quest 2. You can buy Pistol Whip in the Meta Quest store for $29.99.

Moss

Players who love to explore fantasy worlds in virtual reality should try helping Quill defeat Sarffog and save her uncle. Be ready, though; there are puzzles and enemies on your way.

Moss is an adventure and puzzle game readily available on Oculus Quest. The gameplay begins in a library where your curiosity leads you to Quill, a young mouse. Quill needs your help to fight a fire-breathing snake, Sarffog, who has conquered her kingdom and captured her uncle.

Meanwhile, Sarffog is not the only enemy you have. There are multiple puzzles and enemies on your way. Thus, players should not forget to use Quill’s help. She provides puzzle hints and emotional support using American Sign Language.

American Game Developer, Polyarc, launched this adventure game in February 2018. Recently, Polyarc released Moss: Book II on March 21, 2022.

You can play Moss on Oculus Quest for $29.99. Moss: Book II is also launching on Oculus Quest 2 on July 21, 2022. You can add it to your Wishlist on the Meta Quest store.

Lone Echo

Space exploration is currently expensive and out of reach for billions of us. Therefore, Oculus Studios brings you Lone Echo, a virtual reality space exploration game developed by Ready at Dawn.

Lone Echo is set in the futuristic year 2126 aboard the Kronos II spaceship orbiting Saturn. The gameplay revolves around how Jack (an android robot) and Captain Olivia Rhodes restore Kronos II after significant damage.

Will they make it back home? Or will Jack and Olivia be stuck in space forever? Find out by purchasing Lone Echo on the Oculus store for only $20.

Although, the game is specifically for the Oculus Rift headset. You can play Lone Echo on Oculus Quest by connecting the headset’s link cable or wireless link with your gaming PC.

Robo Recall

Robo Recall is a first-person shooter game themed around rogue robots and a fight to eliminate them. Players who enjoy playing games using heavy weaponry will find this game suitable.

Epic Games launched Robo Recall on Oculus Rift in May 2019. Afterward, further improvement led to the launch of Robo Recall: Unplugged for Oculus Quest.

Robo Recall is set in a 3D virtual environment of robots. Players get the character of a field agent (Agent 34) working for a bot manufacturer, RoboReady.

At some point, a virus spreads among the bots causing them to rebel and become violent. Agent 34 must use his weapons and fighting skills to kill rogue robots who have different traits and weapons. Also, the player must eliminate Odin, the source of the virus.

Oculus Quest and Quest 2 feature 360-degree movement and vision. As a result, Robo Recall: Unplugged players can fight rogue bots using more enhanced methods.

Robo Recall: Unplugged is available on the Oculus Quest store for $29.99. Interestingly, you can download the game for free when you activate the Oculus Touch game controller.

Are Blockchain Games available on Oculus Quest?

Blockchain enthusiasts will love to play blockchain games in virtual reality. However, the business model of Oculus Quest differs from that of blockchain gaming platforms. Take The Sandbox as an example.

The Sandbox is a decentralized platform. Players can trade in-game assets, but Oculus currently does not offer such a service. Also, The Sandbox is a web3.0 platform, and Oculus Quest is not.

In addition, The Sandbox uses NFTs, and players can earn real just by playing the game. In contrast, Oculus Quest or its owner, Meta, is currently not in the play-to-earn business model.

Therefore, you can enjoy the virtual reality games available on Oculus Quest while awaiting a future of blockchain gaming in virtual reality.
